He shouldn’t be allowed to have a hunting or fishing license ever again. And honestly the crime was committed in his boat that should be taken away also.
You just can't fix stupid.
So many anglers "WIF-ing" it these days. On a serious note, how can you potentially get 10 years for cheating in a fishing tournament and get the same 10 years or less for reckless or drunken driving leading to the death of others????
Guide????? Why is he even allowed to Fish these events????
Do you think cheating has ramped up in the past few years or tournament directors and organizations have gotten better at catching the people that have been cheating all along?
I tournament fished for 40 years. I just wonder how many times I have been cheated by someone in a tournament I was in. It just seems like it happens way more now. Maybe it's just that we hear about it more now because of the internet. It is sad that this is going on.

Yees the penalty should be harsh for this behavior. I can remember when none of the guys fishing would have never thought of cheating to win.
What’s truly sad here is why did this man feel like he had to cheat what in hell did he need this money for?
I have seen several of the videos on people cheating in tournaments and have just come to the conclusion that the times we are living in have caught up with our sport and crooks have seen a green dollar sign in fishing tournaments unfortunately this guy will not be the last one we hear about doing this.
Just don’t ask him to keep your wallet while you have to do something!
Back in 2010 Robbie Rose was caught and received five years' probation, 15 days in jail and loss of his fishing license for the duration of his probation. Let's see if the consequences go up from that one.
Permanent expulsion! ZERO tolerance!

I have been involved in Livestock shows for 4-H and FFA as an advisor, youth soccer as a parent, horse shows as an observer and team member, and taught high school, college and University for 40 years. I saw cheating of one form or another in all those activities. Often for not much more than getting a different colored ribbon. As a professor, I spent an inordinate amount of time determining methods to catch cheaters. It has been my experience that as long as the penalty is light, the practice of trying to cheat will continue.

Forfeit the Boat, trailer, equipment and gear. Maybe the tow vehicle too.

Of course the first video of the day has to be about some moron cheating. It’s ridiculous. The complete lack of character in some people. Pathetic.
They should wand every fish. They can tell between lead weights and hooks. Too many clowns trying to play the system.
They cheat in everything. Come Steve. Business, Sports, Academics, Gov. local and fed, everybody cheats. Even YouTubers cheat by buying bots to boost their views. It’s because we live in a world where Christ isn’t put first. This is what happens when they remove God from schools and a society that rewards bad behaviour.
I’m still wondering how they haven’t gotten the dtf cheaters. That dude is most likely in one of those countries you can’t extradite the man. If they haven’t found him yet , he got away with it.
Get the money out of fishing, medical care, the legal system and religion. It has corrupted all to the point that they are all dangerous greed attracting frauds.
