Crankbaits have been overlooked, and is a bait that I failed at using until I understood these tips! In this video, I discuss everything you need to know about fishing a crankbait during the late prespawn months, into the postspawn. A deep diving crankbait was a key player on Lake Fork, Bassmaster Elite Series event, and this is how they were using it!

In some lakes that 10' to 12' range may actually be the sweet spot for catching fish. Why make the statement of going really shallow or really deep not every lake fishes the same.
Itโs a shame that fisherman have to use forward facing sonar instead of having skills like the pros of old. People like Bill dance, Roland Martin, Jimmy, Houston, Ken Cook, Paul Elias, and the list goes on and on. Those professionals looked at a body of water, looked at a chart and figured out where the fish should be. It seems that they want to take the โfishingโ part out of bass tournaments and now itโs basically I see them on a screen. As one angler side of the bass, master classic, you canโt catch them unless you can see them. Sad.
BAN LIVESCOPE YOU ARE NOTTTT A PRO IF YOU NEED IT TO CATCH FISH
I love trolling crankbaits for bass. I find itโs the best way to cover water and keep the lure down there when theyโre hitting cranks.
Awesome video!!!! Great tips!!! Thanks for sharing them!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! ๐ค ๐
I do not need sonar yet, I toss crankbaits year round
Gone are the days with an 8' cane pole, a hook and bobber, and some worms. Now you have to have side scan and front facing sonar.
Crankbait fishing is definitely in my arsenal!! Over the years, Iโve caught some of my biggest bass ever on deep diving and shallow running Crankbaits!! Great video Ben ๐ฅ๐ฅ
In Ireland we throw plenty crank baits for seabass on the coast,,topwater my favourite tho
Dommage que la traduction en franรงais soit de trรจs mauvaise qualitรฉ, รงa semble intรฉressant.
Mais il y a trop de contradictions en franรงais
I have lots of crank baits, but fishing from the bank the only thing that's bit any of them are rocks and stumps that snag them and break my line.
Love the spros in the spring. My home lake is really pressured so I don't generally have much luck with hard baits, but those will get me bites on days where I need to trigger them a bit more.
Yes it is in my arsenal.
I thought it was interesting that they were using crankbaits used with FFS. I kept hearing crankbait sales were declining because of FFS. It will be interesting to see if that changes. It was also interesting seeing Trey McKinney stroking a jig with FFS as well and how aggressively he was doing it.
Great content, very informative as always. ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Thanks for reintroducing me to the deep diving crankbait. I readily use and have success with squarebills and shallow diving cranbaits and have not put much effort into using deep divers even though I have a bunch of them in the boat. Probably a confidence thing. This spring I'll devote some time into looking for hard spots in the areas you suggested and put them to work.
Great info! Do you always crank 2 feet off of the bottom for smallmouth or just on specific bodies of water?
