Welcome to the new series and playlist – Against the Current – where I post recaps of tournaments and maybe eventually just fun fishing trips that really display the different ways that I attempt to go “against the grain” (current) to catch the biggest bass possible.
In this opening episode I “attempt” to get some practice in for the Bassmaster Kayak Series Championship but a myriad of things keep getting in my way (weather, new product rigging, fixing things on my kayak etc) of getting much time on the water and actually finding any true winning fish. Somehow I still ended up in the top 10 and on the Bassmaster Classic stage again, but how in the world did that happen after this practice?! Well, that story will be shown in ATC episode #2. For now, enjoy seeing that my practice is often a lot like many of yours but its what I learned and the adjustments and game plan I made “because of this practice” that led me to 102 inches and inside the top 10.

Great video, learned a lot! saludos desde México
Awesome video! Really enjoyed and learned so much by the way you broke this down. Can’t wait to watch the second part.
Awesome Series Drew!!
Great Video Drew. Looking forward to the entire series.
Great video!
Love it, man! Grew up wading the New River and her upper tributaries. I'm new to kayak fishing, but my Smallie SF from Crescent Kayaks is on its way. I know Jody Queen was like 50 before he got in one. I'll be 40 in May. I want to be fishing in the KAS by the Revival on the New. I may need a year or so to see if I can not die in this thing and catch fish at the same time before I add my competitive energy to the mix. The South Boston event could be the perfect timing for there to be a lot of pre spawned big girls still
Enjoyed your video coverage of your breakdown of your strategy for the Lake Fork tournament.
