Fishing for spring crappie, I ended up caching a lot of bass so we are going to catch clean and cook them both to see if you can tell the difference.

put your hat on the right way, like you dads
Nothing wrong with a “Spotted” fry once in a while…especially on lakes where they dominate. Some population control of those 13-15”. Out West like Lake Shasta definitely no harm done. Best is Jan-Mar when nice and fat before the spawn still in the low 50’s water temps.
No seasoning 🤔
*Stares with distaste in South Louisiana
Also, never mix two species of fish in the same meal. One will be better than the other, which makes you think the other actually taste worse than it really is.
If you have a bass and a crappie, both fresh and never frozen, when they are cooked the crappie will be almost mushy inside the crust and the bass will have more texture. Freeze a crappie and defrost in cold water, it will have basically the same texture as the fresh, unfrozen bass. I love them both, but I prefer the fresh bass to the fresh crappie. And I understand that is herecy in the fish eating world.
Spotted bass are in my opinion better tasting than crappie
Too cool, dads a legend cooking the fish and onion rings. I keep small bass, crappie is a much sweeter fish.
Lol. Sush a Pansy around you're pops and son
My old boss used to do fish fry’s and he cooked both and nobody knew the difference. He always bled his fish out also
try putting the fish in some milk instead of water when you filet them.
The only thing I never see you do that I always do is when you clean your fish go in clean the meat and bowl put them back in with a good bit of salt water and let them set in the fridge for atles 1 hour over night if you have time gets all the blood and oil out of the meat so much better
Best fastening fish my opinion
1 crappie
2 hybrid bass
3 white bass
4 catfish
Buccees!!
Never had crappie but I've had bass a few times and it always tasted like swamp water. 🤮
In my 70+ years, I never heard anyone make a negative remark nor reference to the taste of bass until 'catch and release' became the motto (so all the pro's and wannabe's) could be comfortable there would be an endless supply of bass to pursue. I will concede that crappie have a finer texture and milder taste than bass, but the difference isn't enough to have a heavy preference of one over the other when put on the plate with all our favorite sides. I fished for bass only for many years, but I never reached the level of skill to catch more than I could eat. Then 'catch and release' became the mantra and then slot limits were thrown in, and I got completely disenchanted with catching a few good bass but couldn't eat them. I'm now crappie ONLY!
great video
The buccees reference 😂
Watching you from Klamath Falls Oregon just learning how to fish . don't like watching all this political junk and sad news.. rather watch catch and Cook channels
