Hey man, I’ve not gotten blackberries yet but what we have native here are dewberries closely related to blackberries. When the shine goes away, that’s the real sign they are ready to harvest and at their sweetest. The glossy ones have a tartness to them. I like to mix them for a good jelly but yea with dewberries, pick them when the shine goes away, I would assume for blackberries too. Be quick cause they will over ripen quick if not picked.
I planted one bush in August and noticed it started producing berries. Do your leaves ever curl? I’m not sure what is causing it.
so you said you didn't like the flavor the first two years, but in the third year the Osage taste great now?
Man, you are about to get busy!
Wow they look really good. They’re big.
Great harvest! How long a season does Osage produce blueberries?
