Facilities are open, but don\u2019t forget your Northwest Forest Pass!<\/p>\n<p>The journey kicks off with a scenic 3-mile stretch, where the trail winds alongside the Taylor River through a lush, fern-draped forest that feels straight out of a fairytale. Keep your eyes peeled about 100 feet before the wooden bridge\u2014you\u2019ll spot a cairn marking the start of the unmarked trail to Marten Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Now, here\u2019s where things get fun: it\u2019s steep, rugged, and you\u2019ll be scrambling over downed trees and rocks. You\u2019ll briefly emerge from the forest canopy into an open field, where the trail narrows. Heads up if you\u2019re hiking early\u2014dew-covered leaves will give you an unsolicited morning shower as you pass through.<\/p>\n<p>The lake? Absolutely stunning.
